Idaho Murders: Everything to Know About the Case Against Suspected Killer Bryan Kohberger

It has been months since Bryan Kohberger was apprehended for his alleged crimes, however, his case is far from over. In the latest news, he was denied the request for a grand jury indictment. It was rejected by a district court judge in Idaho named Judge John Judge.

Bryan Kohberger was arrested on December 30, 2022, for four counts of murder and one count of felony burglary. The victims were four students of the University of Idaho, two females and two males. Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were 21 years old at the time of their death and Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were 20. It was further revealed that Xana and Ethan were dating.

When did the suspect Bryan Kohberger commit the crimes?

On November 13, 2022, the suspect, Bryan Kohberger, fatally stabbed and killed Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. The University of Idaho students lived in a shared rental home in Moscow, Idaho. This house is not too far away from the university itself.

On that unfortunate night, the assailant entered the house and brutally murdered the students. Ethan was not a resident of the house, however, he was staying the night with his girlfriend, Xana Kernodle.

There were two more individuals in the home when the crime was being committed. Their names are Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke. Although Dylan and Bethany were not attacked by the suspect, the duo explained that they saw the killer clad in black clothing and a mask. The alleged murderer, Bryan Kohberger, was finally arrested on December 30, 2023. After his arrest, a family friend of Mogen expressed her relief to PEOPLE.

She said, “It was amazing they caught him the night before their memorial — such a blessing and relief for all of us.”

The 28-year-old Bryan Kohberger is currently en route to seeking the death penalty by prosecutors.
