Beauty Newbie episode 8 aired on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 8:30 p.m. ICT on channel GMM25. The popular Thai drama follows the story of Liu (Baifern Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul), who has been bullied for her looks all her life. Thus, she goes through plastic surgery before entering university. However, she comes across an old schoolmate, Guy (Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn), who recognizes Liu’s old face from their school days.
Episode 8 begins with Guy’s confession to Liu, but she thinks he’s joking with her. However, Guy asks Liu what her answer would be if he meant what he said about liking her. Before she can answer him, the two are interrupted by their seniors. Liu storms out of the office after they tease her about watching the fireworks with Guy.
Later, Liu stays up late in the night wondering if Guy is serious about what he said. She types multiple text messages but deletes them all, while Guy does the same. After several attempts, he sends a simple ‘I like you’ message to Liu but un-sends it right after. Liu then sighs in frustration.
The following day, despite Guy’s efforts, Liu avoids him at the university. After their classes, Guy spots Liu at a cafe and asks her out for dinner. However, Saint interrupts them and says he’d love to join them for a meal. Guy then confronts Saint for getting in the way of his date. Saint tells him that Liu wouldn’t have said yes anyway because she already has a date with him on Saturday. Earlier, Liu had agreed to attend a contest at the perfume museum with Saint. Guy is visibly jealous when he sees Liu’s excitement to go out with Saint. Ann suggests Guy find a better place for a date than the perfume museum.
Beauty Newbie episode 8 recap: Saint asks Liu to give him a chance
As Liu aspires to become a perfumer, she is mesmerized when she visits the perfume museum with Saint. During the contest, the perfume industry experts are impressed by Liu’s extensive knowledge of scents. Following their visit to the museum, Saint indirectly tells Liu he’s afraid she may not choose him. He then asks Liu why Guy’s love confession has stressed her out. Liu opens up about falling for Guy, and she shares how he’s the person who never abandoned her despite her cold behavior towards him. Guy supported and protected Liu throughout several difficult situations. Despite her feelings, Liu says she can’t date Guy.
Liu then shares the story about her childhood friend, Pun. He was forced to change schools after getting into a fight to protect Liu from being bullied. Despite getting surgery, people continue to comment on her looks, calling her “plastic.” Because of the past incident, Liu is concerned the same thing will happen to Guy if she decides to date him. She then breaks down in tears as she says she doesn’t want to push Guy towards violence. Liu doesn’t want to lose Guy like she lost her old friend.
Meanwhile, Guy tries to plan a date for Liu at their old school. He wants her to live the life she never had because of being bullied throughout her school life. When Liu gets back home, she finds a bag waiting for her with a message, “Let’s go create new memories together.” In the bag, she finds Polaroid photos of her old school attached with images of her and Guy.
Liu confides in Saint about Guy’s proposal. However, things take a turn as Saint proposes to Liu and asks her to date him to make Guy back down. The episode ends with Saint asking Liu to give me a chance.
