Puss in Boots director to direct animated mythical creatures feature
Director Chris Miller will make the leap from fairy tale creatures to mythical creatures for his next project. Per Deadline, the Puss in Boots director will take the director’s chair for Book of Life producer Reel FX Animation Studios’ next feature film.
Details on the project are sketchy, but it’s rumored “to take place in the real world as well as a world of mythical creatures where human wishes are heard and dealt with. ”

Miller hasn’t directed a film since the aforementioned Puss in Boots, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Film back in 2011. Since then he has kept himself busy with a number of voice acting roles, including a bit part in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, The Boss Baby, Penguins of Madagascar, Turbo and even the children’s television series Phineas and Ferb.
He made his directorial debut with Shrek the Third, which made a gargantuan $799 million at the worldwide box office in 2007. Puss in Boots managed a respectable $555 million worldwide, but received a healthy dose of critical acclaim and a solid 84-percent Rotten Tomatoes score.
