CS Video: Oliver Stone and His Snowden Cast

CS sits down with director Oliver Stone and his Snowden cast

This Friday, Open Road Films is releasing to theaters Snowden, the latest feature film from three time Academy Award winner Oliver Stone (Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July). The true story of one of the more controversial figures in recent American history, Snowden stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the man who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world.

ComingSoon.net sat down with Stone and his Snowden cast for a look behind the scenes of the September 16 release. In the player below, you can check out exclusive interviews with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Scott Eastwood and Stone himself. In addition to discussing the importance of telling the true story, the Snowden cast and crew talk about Edward Snowden’s actual involvement with the film and how Stone and Gordon-Levitt traveled to Russia to sit down with him before filming began.

Snowden is written and directed by Stone, based on the books “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” by Luke Harding and “Time of the Octopus” by Anatoly Kucherena. The latter book mainly deals with former information analyst Snowden’s time in Russia hoping to get asylum while the United States was demanding his extradition to potentially face jail time for leaking classified information.
