The Revenant is undoubtedly one of (if not the) most anticipated movies of 2015 and this morning the first trailer has arrived offering a first look at what Birdman director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has in store for us this December.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, the film is described as an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit.
In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter co-star.
Inarritu co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith and it’s Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki serving as cinematographer and shooting on the Alexa 65, delivering us some wonderful images. Check out the trailer below. The movie releases in limited theaters on Dec. 25 and expands nationwide on January 8, 2016.
