If you haven’t yet seen Ex Machina get out there and do so as it expands even further this weekend. Along with an overall great film you’ll also get to see a great performance from Alicia Vikander whose name first came to most people’s attention with A Royal Affair a couple years later, but after Ex Machina and this summer’s Testament of Youth her stock is likely to continue to rise and, who knows, maybe an Oscar nomination in the near future.
Today we have a new trailer for the latter film I mentioned there, Testament of Youth, a World War I feature adapted from the memoir by Vera Brittain played here by one Alicia Vikander opposite Kit Harrington (“Game of Thrones”). Here’s the plot:
Vera, irrepressible, intelligent and free-minded, overcomes the prejudices of her family and hometown, to win a scholarship to Oxford. With everything to live for, she falls in love with her brother’s brilliant friend Roland Leighton as they go to University to pursue their literary dreams.
But the First World War is looming and as the boys leave for the front, Vera realizes she cannot sit idly by as her peers fight for their country, so volunteers as a nurse and sets off for France.
The film is directed by James Kent and co-stars Taron Egerton, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Miranda Richardson, Hayley Atwell, Anna Chancellor and Alexandra Roach
Sony Classics will bring Testament of Youth to theaters on June 5, check out the trailer below.
