I don’t think anyone is expecting much from Hot Pursuit. I can’t say I’ve seen too many of director Anne Fletcher‘s films, but I can say I’ve avoided a couple of them, those being The Guilt Trip and 27 Dresses, and I’m no fan of The Proposal. To her credit, she did kick start the Step Up franchise. So… she has that going for her.
As for Hot Pursuit, Fletcher does have some talent in her favor with Reese Witherspoon playing an “uptight and by-the-book cop” who gets involved with the widow of a drug lord played by Sofia Vergara. The two end up traveling across Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen as supposed hilarity ensues. John Carroll Lynch, Rob Kazinsky and Richard T. Jones co-star.
Warner Bros. is releasing the film on May 8 and a new international trailer has just dropped, which ends with Witherspoon dressing up as Justin Bieber. It’s not a good look.
