Director Matthew Vaughn is returning to the world of comic book author Mark Millar with his latest film. Millar also penned Kick-Ass, which Vaughn turned into a fairly enjoyable film. Kingsman: The Secret Service, which was coauthored by Dave Gibbons, is their next collaboration, and the film just received the red band trailer treatment, which you can all watch below.
I am assuming the film involves the Secret Service and British people, as the title would indicate. Samuel L. Jackson shows up with a Yankees cap, and Colin Firth wears a suit. People get shot. It is a light, fluffy action film. What else is there to know? I cannot imagine this is a deep exploration on the divide between man and nature.
I enjoyed Kick-Ass (Kick-Ass 2 on the other hand…), so hopefully, Vaughn can turn another Millar story into something entertaining. The movie is set to be released on February 13, 2015, which is a little too early in the year for me to think it will be really great, but it could still make for a pleasant enough couple of hours in the theater.
Again, you can watch the new red band trailer below.
Based on the comic from “Kick-Ass” creators, Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
