I was certainly surprised when the film I heard the most about coming out of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival was Chris Rock‘s latest outing in the directors chair, Top Five. Rock’s previous films (Head of State, I Think I Love My Wife) were not stellar by any means, but he is a smart, funny, and talented guy. I knew he would make at least one film that clicked. I will be seeing the film next week and am quite excited to see what the fuss is about.
Well, for those of you who need a little something from the film to hold you over until you see it, a new red band trailer for Top Five is available for you all to watch below. I am not only avoiding the trailer because I like avoiding trailers, but this is a comedy, and I do not want jokes ruined for me out of context from the film.
I know very little about the film, aside from Rock playing a comedian turned actor similar to himself. I also know the film also stars Rosario Dawson, J.B. Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, and Jerry Seinfeld. That is a group of talented people, and I hope they can form themselves to Rock’s voice well. I am look forward to it.
Again, you can watch the red band trailer below.
Written, directed by, and starring Chris Rock, Top Five tells the story of New York City comedian-turned-film star Andre Allen, whose unexpected encounter with a journalist forces him to confront both the career that made him famous and the life he left behind.
