Watch: ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Honest Trailer

The romance that did for cancer what Twilight did for vampires…

This is how Screen Junkies kicks off their rather odd honest trailer installment for The Fault in Our Stars, what I consider to be the biggest surprise hit of 2014 and not because it did well at the box office. After all, saying it did well is a massive understatement. This movie crushed the worldwide box office to the tune of more than $301 million so far on a $12 million budget.

Directed by Josh Boone and starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, this was the perfect storm of weeping, tragic romance combined with solid acting and directing. It was, in fact, a good film, and it just might be a film that proves challenging for the Screen Junkies crew to dismantle… that is, other than the Anne Frank house moment, which is easily the oddest scene in the entire film.

As I said, it’s a very weird honest trailer installment in that it’s a hard film to poke fun at as the film sort of takes the piss out of any kind of snark before anyone watching it can.
