It’s a little hard to gauge what we should expect from this first trailer for The Salvation, which will be playing as part of the Midnight Selection at this year’s Cannes Film Festival as the “oh so epic” music really makes it seem like those who cut it feel we should be drooling all over this, but outside of some interesting cinematography I can’t say it looks to be all that compelling.
Featuring an impressive cast, beginning with Mads Mikkelsen in the lead role as an American settler out to settle a score with a gang leader responsible for the murder of his family. Mikkelsen is joined by Eva Green, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Mikael Persbrandt, Jonathan Pryce and Eric Cantona with Kristian Levring sitting in the director’s chair.
There may be a reason this one is in the midnight selection and not in competition, give the trailer a watch and let me know what you think.
