Watch the 2014 Super Bowl Movie Trailers

It’s a new day and age. There was once a time where studios used the Super Bowl as a major jumping off point with multi-million dollar ad placements, debuting trailers no one had ever seen before. Once again this year, several studios are taking advantage, but few are waiting until the actual game to premiere those trailers, or at least the trailer in its entirety.

So far we’ve seen the trailer for Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah and we’ve seen the first half of the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and a teaser of what will be shown for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Additionally, we have the trailers for The Monuments Men, Pompeii and two Kevin Costner pictures — Draft Day and 3 Days to Kill. Considering media buyers are saying costs averaged around $4 million for 30 seconds worth of ad time during the game, that’s a lot of money to spend for something you’re going to premiere online in advance.

Now there are some trailers that have yet to premiere and, as I said, more footage from both the Captain America 2 and Spider-Man 2 trailers will be shown during the game. Also expected to play are trailers for Need for Speed, Transformers: Age of Extinction, RoboCop and Neighbors.

As of right now it appears Fox is staying out of the game despite having such general audience features as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and X-Men: Days of Future Past on the horizon, but I guess $4 million for something you can upload online for free is a little silly.
