Second Official ‘Captain Phillips’ Trailer, is It Coming to the Toronto Film Festival?

Sony has premiered a second trailer for Captain Phillips, directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) and starring Tom Hanks in a story based on Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty’s book, “A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea”, telling the story of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates.

The film focuses on the relationship between the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (Hanks), and his Somali counterpart, Muse (Barkhad Abdi). Set on an incontrovertible collision course off the coast of Somalia, both men will find themselves paying the human toll for economic forces outside of their control.

Watch the new trailer below. The film hits theaters on October 11. Right now it’s scheduled to temporary classification (screen capture below) and it would appear it might be showing up at the Toronto Film Festival as well. However, rules for a film to open the New York Film Festival require it to be the North American premiere, so a chance it shows up at TIFF are slim to none… Well, more none than even slim…
