The Weinstein Co. is combating the onslaught of Comic Con news by dropping the first official trailer for what may end up being a major Oscar contender in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom starring Idris Elba in the title role.
Set to hit theaters on November 29, the film is based on Nelson Mandela’s autobiography “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” and centers on the South African leader and President from 1994-95 and his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison.
Justin Chadwick is directing with Naomie Harris co-starring as Mandela’s wife, Winnie.
