Trailer for New ‘Salinger’ Documentary

The Weinstein Co. has premiered the first trailer for the upcoming documentary Salinger from director Shane Salerno (Savages) and featuring interviews with over 150 subjects including Salinger’s friends, colleagues and members of his inner circle who have never spoken on the record before as well as film footage, photographs and other material that has never been seen.

I saw this trailer at the Weinstein presentation in Cannes last month and was impressed by what I saw as it looks like Salerno has not only managed to get a lot of people to discuss Salinger and not only in terms of his iconic “Catcher in the Rye”, but well beyond into what the official synopsis describes as his “private world and the secrets he left behind after his death in 2010”.

The film hits theaters on September 6 and I really can’t wait to see it. Check out the trailer below.

Some of the people interviewed include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Edward Norton, John Cusack, Danny DeVito, John Guare, Martin Sheen, David Milch, Robert Towne, Tom Wolfe, E.L. Doctorow, Gore Vidal and Pulitzer Prize winners A. Scott Berg and Elizabeth Frank talking about Salinger’s influence on their lives, their work and the broader culture.
