The one film I was unable to see here at the Cannes Film Festival was David Lowery‘s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints starring Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck. The schedules just didn’t mesh, but the film already has an August 16 release so I’ll be seeing it soon enough, if not in the next couple weeks if I can find a screening at the Seattle Film Festival that fits my schedule.
That said, today I have for you the first trailer and a rather artful poster for the film, which finds Affleck and Mara playing Bob Muldoon and Ruth Guthrie, a young outlaw couple on an extended crime spree, who are finally apprehended by lawmen after a shootout in the Texas hills. Although Ruth wounds a local officer, Bob takes the blame. But four years later, Bob escapes from prison and sets out to find Ruth and their daughter, born during his incarceration.
