Trailer and Poster for Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Past’ Starring Berenice Bejo and Tahar Rahim

It makes it harder not to expect Asghar Farhadi‘s new film The Past (Le passé) to show up at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival when a brand new trailer and the first poster for the film arrive online approximately two weeks before the lineup will be announced. Granted, at this point the trailer isn’t in English and doesn’t come with subtitles so you’re only going to be getting a vibe for the feature unless you speak French, but for some of you that may be enough.

The film stars recognizable international stars Bérénice Bejo (The Artist) and Tahar Rahim (A Prophet) along side Ali Mosaffa in a story centered on an Iranian man (Mosaffa) having long-term domestic problems with his French wife (Bejo) whom he deserts along with their two children to go back to his homeland. In the mean time, his wife is seeing a French man (Rahim) and therefore writes to him and asks for a divorce which compels the man to come back to France, only to see his wife’s new partner in his home beside his children.

The film is currently without a release date, but considering the success of A Separation you better believe all eyes will be on this one to see if Farhadi has another hit on his hands.
