Adam Wingard‘s horror film You’re Next first played the Toronto Film Festival in 2011 and Wingard has since gone on to direct V/H/S as well as its upcoming sequel, S-VHS (aka V/H/S/2). However, don’t sleep on this long-delayed film, which I’ve heard is actually quite good. Here’s the synopsis, which makes it sound like The Strangers meets something else entirely:
One of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, You’re Next reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.
Lionsgate is set to release You’re Next on August 23 and today the first trailer was revealed and along with it I have included the first three teaser posters, all directly below.
