Trailer for ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’

The Reluctant Fundamentalist didn’t receive glowing reviews out of its festival run late last year, but the new film from Mira Nair has found its way to IFC and will hit theaters on April 26.

Starring Riz Ahmed, Liev Schreiber, Kiefer Sutherland and Kate Hudson, the film is based on the acclaimed novel by Mohsin Hamid and centers on a young Pakistani professor Changez Khan (Ahmed) who’s interviewed by American journalist Bobby Lincoln (Schreiber). Princeton-educated Changez tells Lincoln of his past as a brilliant business analyst on Wall Street. He talks of the glittering future that lay before him, his mentor, Jim Cross (Sutherland), and the beautiful and sophisticated Erica (Hudson), with whom he was set to share that future.

For me, Nair has yet to repeat the high point she reached with Monsoon Wedding in 2002 and I’m wondering if she ever will.

The trailer has just come online and you can check it out directly below.
