Watch: Trailer for Oscar Contender ‘The Sessions’

After undergoing a series of title changes following its rousing Sundance Film Festival debut where it won the Audience Award (Dramatic) and Special Jury Prize (Dramatic), we have our first trailer for The Sessions (previously known as The Surrogate and Six Sessions), a film poised as a surefire Oscar contender.

Starring John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy and Moon Bloodgood, the film centers on a man (Hawkes) confined to an iron lung who is determined–at age 38–to lose his virginity. With the help of his therapists and the guidance of his priest (Macy), he sets out to make his dream a reality. The story is based on the autobiographical writings of California-based journalist and poet Mark O’Brien.

The film is slated for an October 26 release, which should position the actors nicely for Oscar chatter throughout the rest of the year and the film itself is receiving so much praise it could be in line for a Best Picture nomination as well.

So check out the trailer directly below and see what you think.
