When it comes to recent animated film franchises, I find the Madagascar films about as uninteresting as I do the Shrek films. Sure, the penguins are funny, the monkeys are good for a few laughs, but the overall stories are terrible. I truly disliked the first Madagascar film and admittedly found the sequel to be a vast improvement, but I have little desire to return to the franchise for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, which hits theaters on June 8, 2012 and today we have our first look at the teaser trailer.
Written by Noah Baumbach (Fantastic Mr. Fox) and once again featuring the voice work of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric The Entertainer and Andy Richter, Madagascar 3 follows Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe as they continue their struggle to get home to their beloved Big Apple and of course, King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins are all along for the comedic adventure. This third film takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent — Madagascar style.
