The First Trailer for ‘Black Gold’ Starring Banderas, Strong and Pinto

From Jean-Jacques Annaud, the director of Two Brothers and The Quest for Fire comes Black Gold, a film that at one point was rumored for Cannes earlier this year and with a trailer arriving from Warner Bros. France right now I don’t think we’ll see it there next year, but that doesn’t stop it from being a film people are looking forward to.

Starring Antonio Banderas, Mark Strong, Freida Pinto, Tahar Rahim, Corey Johnson and Riz Ahmed the film is set in the 1930s Arab states at the dawn of the oil boom and the story centers on a young Arab prince torn between allegiance to his conservative father and modern, liberal father-in-law.

As of now the film doesn’t have a domestic distributor, though it is set to play the Doha Tribeca Film Festival at the end of October followed by an opening in France in November. If I had to take a guess, it looks like a film that would end up at Sony Pictures Classics if any of the major specialty houses were to pick it up.

Have a look at the trailer below and see what you think.
