One of this year’s Oscar contenders is undoubtedly Alexander Payne‘s first film in seven years, The Descendants, featuring George Clooney as Matt King, a husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. Today I have a new trailer for the film to show you
I saw the film at the Toronto Film Festival where I said it’s “a reflective drama with heart, humor and a lead performance by George Clooney that is assured an Oscar nomination.”
On top of Clooney, co-star and newcomer Shailene Woodley is looking at a potential nomination as Matt’s eldest daughter and I have it predicted to be one of the Best Picture nominees at this time as well as have Payne in for Best Director and I’m not quite sure where I’ll place him for Adapted Screenplay, but I imagine he’ll be in my top five when I post my first screenwriting predictions later this week.
