Buzz for Joe Carnahan‘s The Grey has been quite good for some time now with a lot of emphasis on Liam Neeson‘s performance as he leads a group of oil-rig roughnecks left stranded on the sub-arctic tundra after their plane experiences a complete mechanical failure and crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. The survivors, battling mortal injuries, biting cold and ravenous hunger, are relentlessly hunted and pursued by a vicious pack of rogue wolves.
There was some talk of even doing a limited NY and LA release for the film to get Neeson some Oscar consideration before the film’s January 27 wide release. I haven’t heard any word on that yet so for now January it is.
The first trailer for the film just debuted at Yahoo and can be watched directly below and after sifting through it for the screen capture above, just by looking at the visuals and knowing the plot I’d say it could be great. I, of course, didn’t watch the trailer just as I never do so I will leave the ultimate judgment to you. Watch and leave your comments below.
