Now You Know Why They Used Eminem for the ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ Trailer

Yahoo just debuted the image at the bottom of this post of Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and I can only assume this will be the image used for the first poster once it debuts as each previous poster has attempted to set the mood of the film through a lone image of Cruise.

As for Ghost Protocol, the one difference already will be the December 21 release date as all previous M:i films were released as summer fare. The fourth film in the franchise brings Cruise back as Ethan Hunt along with Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, Michael Nyqvist, Josh Holloway, Simon Pegg, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor.

J.J. Abrams directed the third installment and is a producer of this fourth film, which is directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles), and was recently quoted saying, “I think it’s the best one of the series.” High praise for someone with his own film in the mix, but then again, a producer wouldn’t likely say, “It’s good, but mine was a little better.”

The new feature beigns with the IMF being shut down when it’s implicated in a global terrorist bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated and Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his rogue new team (Renner, Patton and Pegg) must go undercover to clear their organization’s name. No help, no contact, off the grid. You have never seen a mission grittier and more intense than this.

Check out the new pic below featuring Cruise in a hoodie giving more reason as to why they used Eminem’s “Won’t Back Down” (watch above) and for more on the film, including the Japanese trailer (sans the Eminem) right here.
