Watch the Trailer for ‘The Darkest Hour’ Starring Emile Hirsch

Summit has debuted the trailer for The Darkest Hour, which is produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella and Rachael Taylor.

Directed by Chris Gorak (Right at Your Door) and written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus), the 3D thriller is set in Moscow where five people are stranded and fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating… yup, you guessed it, an alien attack. Just when you thought you could avoid the alien influx another one is set to arrive on December 23.

When I wrote my “Too Much of a Good Thing” article I forgot to look forward to how many alien films were on the way. This month we actually don’t have any. In September I guess you could count Apollo 18, though I’m not entirely sure if that’s supposed to be ghosts or aliens. October has The Thing remake, nothing in November and December has only The Darkest Hour. So I guess we’ll be getting a break for a while. Good to know.

For now, check out the trailer for The Darkest Hour and let me know if it differentiates itself from the other alien films we’ve seen as of late or if it looks like just another alien attack thriller. You can also click here to check out the first film still from the movie along with a batch of five pieces of concept art.
