Starrring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciar�n Hinds and Benedict Cumberbatch and directed by Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In), Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was already one of my most anticipated films of 2011. So, of course, I didn’t watch the following international teaser trailer. I don’t need to. I already know I want to see this movie and I don’t need anything to increase or lessen my anticipation… but don’t let that stop you.
Based on John le Carre’s 1974 Cold War spy novel of the same name, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is set in the 1970s and George Smiley (Oldman), a recently retired MI6 agent, is doing his best to adjust to a life outside the secret service. However, when a disgraced agent reappears with information concerning a mole at the heart of the Circus, Smiley is drawn back into the murky field of espionage.
Focus Features has picked up the film for domestic distribution and will release it in theaters on November 18. I just hope they screen it at the Toronto International Film Festival first.
