The Awful Looking ‘Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star’ Poster and Trailer

Columbia Pictures has released the first trailer and poster for the upcoming comedy Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star, which is one of two upcoming films for Nick Swardson who also plays a part in Ruben Fleischer’s 30 Minutes or Less.

The film centers on the title character (Swardson), a small town grocery bagger whose life is going nowhere until he discovers his conservative parents were once adult film stars! Armed with the belief that he has found his destiny, Bucky packs up and heads out to LA, hoping to follow in his parents’ footsteps. Of course, just reading the synopsis doesn’t give you a clear idea of just how bad this looks.

Based on the 1 minute and 23 seconds of the trailer I actually tolerated I can tell you right now I will not go see this movie. I can almost guarantee there will be a red band trailer selling the more raunchier aspects of this already R-rated feature and I am willing to predict those will probably turn me off even further. It’s sort of sad when Don Johnson’s porn name being Miles Deep is expected to get a laugh. Maybe if this were the ’80s or if I were ten-years-old it would make me laugh. The small penis joke… also not funny. The buck-toothed and confused lead character… really not funny.

So when can you find this film in theaters? I know you wanna know… September 9. Excited yet?

I’ve included the trailer and the poster below. What I love best is the color used for the credits on the poster. It’s as if no one involved wanted to be associated with it so they chose a color that would blend in as close to the faded orange background as they could. Don’t worry, though, I’ll let you know that along with Swardson and Johnson, this film also features Christina Ricci and Stephen Dorff and is directed by Tom Brady (The Comebacks). You’re welcome.
