Jagged Edge Productions has released the official Bambi: The Reckoning trailer for the forthcoming horror thriller, based on Felix Salten’s 1923 coming-of-age novel titled Bambi, A Life in the Woods. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters sometime this summer.

The video provides viewers with a glimpse of the horror movie’s new take on the classic Disney tale. It features the titular deer as a mutated monster who’s out for revenge. It also teases some of the movie’s gory kill sequences. This serves as the latest entry to the studio’s Poohniverse franchise, which began with the released of Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 1 & 2. The franchise reimagines beloved children’s novels into twisted horror stories.
“After a mother and son get in a car wreck, they soon become hunted by Bambi, a mutated grief-stricken deer on a deadly rampage seeking revenge for the death of his mother,” reads the official synopsis.
Bambi: The Reckoning is directed by Dan Allen from a screenplay written by Rhys Warrington. The cast includes Roxanne McKee, Nicola Wright, Samira Mighty, Tom Mulheron, Alex Cooke, Russell Geoffrey Banks, Catherine Adams, Big Tobz, Adrian Relph, Joseph Greenwood, Luke Cavendish, and Ewan Borthwick. The film is executive produced by Stuart Alson and Nicole Holland, with Scott Chambers and Rhys Frake-Waterfield producing. It is a production by ITN Studios and Premiere Entertainment, with Vince Knight and Dan Allen serving as the cinematographer and editor, respectively.
