ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Into the Spotlight trailer, previewing the upcoming heartfelt documentary about a Dallas-based theatre troupe.

What happens in the Into the Spotlight trailer?

The Into the Spotlight trailer follows a theatre troupe based out of Dallas, comprised of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The film chronicles the group as they put together, rehearse, and perform their 11th annual original musical.

Into the Spotlight is set to release on February 21, 2025, and will be available to rent or own on all North American digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms, as well as on DVD< through Freestyle Digital Media, who acquired the digital distribution rights to the film.

Into the Spotlight is directed by award-winning filmmaker Theaddeus D. Matula, and produced by Reverend Paul Rasmussen, Matula, and King Hollis. It features and profiles real-life disabled theatre performers, including Christi Davenport, Cindy Johnston, Jason Carter, Daniel Wade, Andrea Parton, Sally Smith, Nancy Appelman, and Jacob Kunko.

“Into the Spotlight is a heartfelt documentary feature film that follows a Dallas-based theatre troupe — composed of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities — who are determined to write, rehearse, and perform their 11th annual original musical,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Into the Spotlight conveys the heartfelt story of how a script, a stage, and a theater program composed of adults with disabilities celebrate their creativity, explore life’s complexities, and empower a community in their own words and their own way.”
