Lionsgate has released the Bloat trailer for its upcoming screenlife supernatural horror, starring Gotham vet Ben McKenzie. The movie hails from Searching and Unfriended producer Timur Bekmambetov.
“After a near-death drowning accident, a young boy’s family is horrified to discover he has become possessed by a legendary demon from the depths of the lake. As the family races against time to save the boy’s soul, the evil monster inside the child tears the family apart as it seeks to destroy everyone in its path,” reads the official synopsis.

When is the Bloat release date?
Bloat is scheduled to make its debut on March 7 in theaters and on digital platforms. McKenzie will be joined by Bojana Novakovic (Devil) as Hannah, Malcolm Fuller as Steve, Sawyer Jones (Antlers) as Kyle, and Kane Kosugi (Godzilla: Final Wars).
The film is written and directed by Pablo Absento in his feature directorial debut. Additional cast includes Jeff Applegate, Akiyo Komatsu, Miyu Yokota, Ethan Herschenfeld, Zack Niizato, Larry Bull, Rebecca Belson, David Gibson, David Lavine, Asha Etchison, and James Adam Lim. In addition to Bekmambetov, it is also being produced by Hiroko Oda and Mariya Zatulovskaya, with Enzo Flores serving as an executive producer.
This marks McKenzie’s first movie as the lead in a long while, after previously playing supporting characters in movies like 2019’s The Report, 2019’s Line of Duty, and 2022’s I Want You Back. Besides Bloat, he will next be seen in crime drama movie Motor City with Alan Ritchson, and in the medical drama series The Hurt Unit.
