Shudder has shared The Dead Thing trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller led by Blu Hunt (The Originals, The New Mutants). The movie is scheduled to start streaming on Friday, February 14.

What happens in The Dead Thing trailer?
The video features Hunt as Alex, a young woman who is ghosted by someone she feels a connection with. However, as she searches for him, strange things start happening to Alex. Besides Hunt, the cast also includes Katherine Hughes, John Karna, Brennan Mejia, Joey Millin, Ben Smith-Petersen, and Aerial Washington.
The Dead Thing is directed by Elric Kane, who co-wrote the screenplay with Webb Wilcoxen. In addition to leading the cast, Hunt is also set as an executive producer alongside Rebekah McKendry. It is produced by Matt Mercer and Monte Yazzie, with Iona Vasile and Star Rosencrans serving as the director of photography and editor, respectively.
“Alex is trapped in a downward spiral of shallow hookups and tepid connections, but she is caught off guard when her dating app swipes lead her into the arms of a mysterious, charming young man Kyle,” reads the official synopsis. “Despite their passionate night, when the sun rises, the mystery man is nowhere to be found. Alex then sets out to find the one person who made her feel alive. Through her investigation, she reconnects with Kyle, but also digs up a ghastly supernatural secret. The pair quickly descend into a whirlwind of obsession, dependence, lust, and infatuation that has grave consequences.”
