ComingSoon is excited to debut the exclusive The Damned clip from Vertical’s newest horror drama starring Odessa Young (Mothering Sunday) as Eva and Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) as Daniel.
Following its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, the film is now available in theaters nationwide. Since its debut, it has garnered a Tomatometer score of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What happens in The Damned clip?
The video shows Young’s Eva and Cole’s Daniel, along with the other coastal residents as they suddenly witness a nearby ship sinking. The cast also includes Siobhan Finneran, Rory McCann, Turlough Convery, Lewis Gribben, Francis Magee, Mícheál Óg Lane, Andrean Sigurgeirsson, Guillermo Uria, and Arnar Máni Iansson Gray.
“It follows a 19th-century widow who is tasked with making an impossible choice when a ship sinks off the coast of her isolated fishing outpost during the middle of an especially cruel winter,” reads the synopsis. “With provisions running low, Eva and her close-knit community must choose between rescuing the shipwrecked crew and prioritizing their own survival. Facing the consequences of their decision and tormented by guilt, the inhabitants wrestle with a mounting sense of dread and begin to believe they are all being punished for their choices.”
The Damned is directed by Thordur Palsson from a screenplay by Jamie Hannigan, based on a story by Palsson. It is executive produced by Dave Bishop, Dave Darby, Niamh Fagan, Luane Gauer, John P Gleeson, George Hamilton, Oisín O’Neill, and Lauren Shelton. Producers are Conor Barry, Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson, Tim Headington, Kamilla Hodol, Emilie Jouffroy, Nate Kamiya, John Keville, Theresa Steele Page, Benoit Roland, and Anton Máni Svansson.
