The video provides fans with the first look at Rachel Zegler performing one of the movie’s new songs, titled “Waiting on a Wish.” Set to expand the story and music from the animated movie, La La Land and The Greatest Showman duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote the new songs for the adaptation. Besides Zegler, the film also stars Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kaiba as the Huntsman, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, Patrick Page as the voice of the Magic Mirror, and more.
“Disney’s Snow White is a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film. The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy,” reads the synopsis.
The film is based on the studio’s first animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which debuted over 80 years ago and began Disney’s success with animated films. The original was also inspired by the 1812 German fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm. It is directed and produced by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. This project is part of Disney’s growing list of upcoming live-action projects, including Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, and Bambi.
