What happens in the Mission: Impossible 8 teaser trailer?

The video teases the aftermath of last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which saw Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt successfully retrieving the key for the cyber weapon called The Entity. The teaser provides fans with a preview of some of the sequel’s thrilling action sequences, as well as a first look at Angela Bassett’s return as Erika Sloane. It also seemingly hints at the possibility that the upcoming sequel may serve as the franchise’s final installment.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Joining Cruise and Bassett in the eighth installment are Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Mariela Garriga, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt.

The film is produced by McQuarrie and Cruise, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Chris Brock as executive producers. It hails from Paramount Pictures and Skydance. During Dead Reckoning’s theatrical run last year, the film wasn’t able to live up to the box office expectations due to tough competition with Barbenheimer. It only garnered a worldwide gross of over $570 million against a reported budget of around $291 million.
