Netflix has released a brand new Spellbound trailer for its newest animated fantasy musical starring Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler (West Side Story). The film will be available for streaming on November 22.
“The film follows the adventures of Ellian, the tenacious young daughter of the rulers of Lumbria who must go on a daring quest to save her family and kingdom after a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Spellbound trailer?
The video highlights Princess Ellian’s journey to saving her parents from permanently becoming monsters. It also teases the challenges she must face in order to break the curse. In addition to Zegler, the movie features the voices of Nicole Kidman as Queen of Lumbria, Javier Bardem as King Solon, John Lithgow as royal advisor Minister Bolinar, Jenifer Lewis as royal advisor Minister Nazara Prone, Nathan Lane and André De Shields as The Oracles of the Sun and Moon, and Jordan Fisher as young nomad Callan.
Spellbound is an animated musical directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) from a script co-written by Mulan‘s Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin, along with Linda Woolverton (The Lion King). It includes music from Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, which reunites him with long-time collaborators and fellow Grammy-winners, lyricist Glenn Slater and former Walt Disney Music President Chris Montan, who all worked together on The Little Mermaid and Tangled.
