What is 1660 Vine about?

“In 1660 Vine, a group of influencers live in a famed Hollywood apartment building to pursue their dreams of social media stardom,” the synopsis reads. “The residents of 1660 Vine confront questions of fame, influence, identity, and mental health. All the while, the residents update their followers through vlogs, gaming streams, makeup tutorials, TikTok dances, songs, and pranks, as they navigate their search for identity, discovering the difference between who they present themselves to be, and who they really are.”

The cast of the movie, which comes from WitzEnd Productions and PhilmCo Media, includes Khemuni Norodom, Cheryl Porter, Pia Toscano, Chris Olsen, Maya Lagerstam, Malachi Durant, CJ Cruz, Brianna Rose Gentilella, Jaiden Klein, Kausha Campbell, Jessica Ruth Bell, Ella Duran, Fernanda Romero, Sam Haft, Amanda McCants, Julie Warner, Tyler Joseph Ellis, and Lisa Loeb.

“This cast, including major social media influencers and Broadway stars, is exceptional,” McGregor, an acclaimed theater director who is making her feature film directorial debut with 1660 Vine, said in a statement. “Their joyful, raw, and vivid performances capture the complications of finding authenticity in a world of self-promotion.  What writer Jackson Prince, DP Tyler Million, Music Directors Faye Greenberg and David Lawrence, Choreographer Paula Abdul, and the entire creative team were able to do on our tight shooting schedule was amazing.  We created a movie musical peek behind the social media curtain that is both hilarious and provocative. It asks some important questions about what it means to ‘be real’ in a time when the cameras are always on.”

Stacia Fernandez of Streaming Musicals added, “Every video post, song, and dance tells a story of ambition, vulnerability, and the quest for true connection. Don’t miss this exhilarating ride into the dazzling, unpredictable world of the talented creators of 1660 Vine.”

1660 Vine is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It will arrive on other platforms in 2025, while a screening in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the Cambodian Royal Family is planned for October 25, 2024.
