What happens in the You & I trailer?
The exclusive, dialogue-less You & I trailer introduces audiences to Shelton’s Sara and Crawford’s Joseph; two characters who once were deeply in love with one another and, now, years later, are spending a weekend with one another exploring what could have been.
“An unexpected meeting brings former flames Sara and Joseph together for a weekend where they have an opportunity to explore the ‘What ifs?’ that could have been with the one that got away,” the synopsis reads.
The film also stars Ashley Shelton as Misty and Linds Edwards as Mark. Summer Shelton produces the movie alongside Crawford and Todd Remis, while Elaine Thomas and Leslie Garner serve as executive producers. Production companies involved with the project include Story Farm, Back40, Salem Street Entertainment, and Kaleidoscope Entertainment.
“From the beginning, I wanted this story is to be about a relationship more than the about the people,” Summer Shelton said about You & I. “I knew that making the film would need to be an artistic collaboration from two hearts. Unlike the characters Sara and Joseph who have known each other for a long time, I wrote the role of Joseph for a stranger –Clayne Crawford. On-screen and off, we shared the vision to give equal representation to the masculine and feminine characters –making them both complex, fallible, equally vulnerable, and vilifying neither. Our partnership ventured beyond onscreen as we continued collaborating throughout post production. The footage became our own scrapbook of memories to navigate and we hope audiences enjoy it as much as we did.”
You & I will be released in limited theaters in the United States on Friday, October 18, 2024.
