Searchlight Pictures has released the official Hold Your Breath trailer for its newest psychological horror thriller, which will be led by Emmy winner Sarah Paulson. The film will hold its world premiere later this week at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, followed by its streaming debut on October 3 — exclusively on Hulu.
“In 1930s Oklahoma amid the region’s horrific dust storms, a woman (Paulson) is convinced that a sinister presence is threatening her family,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Hold Your Breath trailer?
The video introduces Paulson as a single mother to two daughters. She desparately tries protect from the mysterious drifter, amidst a terrible dust storm that’s been plaguing their small town. This marks Paulson’s first feature project in nearly four years after starring in Aneesh Chaganty’s horror thriller Run.
Hold Your Breath is directed by Karrie Crouse and Will Joines from a screenplay written by Crouse. The film also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Annaleigh Ashford, Amiah Miller, Bill Heck, Aaron Shiver, Frances Lee McCain, Courtney Cunningham, and more. It is produced by Lucas Joaquin, Alix Madigan, and Marina Stabile.

Paulson is currently attached to star in several movies, including Mirrah Foulkes’ I Am Symbil with Elle Fanning, Pam McKinnon’s Cybourne Park with Anthony Mackie, and Aisling Walsh’s Ethel’s Orchestra with Whitney Peak, which are all still in the pre-production phase. Paulson was recently cast in the legal drama series All’s Fair, which will reunite her with long-time collaborator Ryan Murphy.
