Blue Fox Entertainment has shared the official Kensuke’s Kingdom trailer for the upcoming family adventure movie, featuring the voices of Oscar winner Cillian Murphy and Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins.
“A young boy and his family set off on a sailing trip of a lifetime until a violent storm erupts, sweeping Michael and his dog overboard,” reads the synopsis. “After washing up on a remote island, terrified, they struggle to survive and adjust to life alone, One day, Michael discovers he is not alone when he is confronted by a mysterious Japanese man who has lived there secretly since World War II, angry that Michael has arrived. However, as dangerous invaders threaten their fragile island paradise, Michael and the old man, Kensuke, join forces to save their secret world.”

When is the Kensuke’s Kingdom release date?
Kensuke’s Kingdom is scheduled to make its debut in U.S. and Canada theaters, starting on October 18, 2024. The film is co-directed by Neil Boyle and Kirk Hendry from a screenplay written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce. It is based on Michael Morpurgo’s best-selling 1999 children’s novel. The voice cast includes Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) as Dad, Sally Hawkins (Wonka) as Mum, Aaron MacGregor (Puffin Rock and The New Friends) as Michael, Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) as Kensuke, and Raffey Cassidy (White Noise) as Becky. It is a production by Lupus Films, with Ruth Fielding, Camilla Deakin, and Stephan Roelants serving as producers.
This marks Murphy’s first feature-length animated movie. Following his award-winning performance in Oppenheimer, he will next be seen in the upcoming historical drama film Small Things Like These, and the horror sequel 28 Years Later. Murphy is also set to reprise his iconic role as Thomas Shelby in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie.
