A new Back to Black trailer has been released, giving viewers a better look at the upcoming biopic about English singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse. The movie will debut in theaters in the United States on Friday, May 17, 2024.
“The extraordinary story of Amy Winehouse’s early rise to fame from her early days in Camden through the making of her groundbreaking album, Back to Black that catapulted Winehouse to global fame,” says the synopsis. “Told through Amy’s eyes and inspired by her deeply personal lyrics, the film explores and embraces the many layers of the iconic artist and the tumultuous love story at the center of one of the most legendary albums of all time.”

Who was Amy Winehouse?
Winehouse was an English singer best known for her vocals and coverage of various genres in her music. Her debut album, Frank, was released in 2003 to critical acclaim, and her follow-up album, Back to Black, released in 2006, was a smash hit. The album became one of the best-selling albums in UK history, and the single “Rehab” remains immensely popular.
The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson from a script written by Matt Greenhalgh, who previously collaborated on 2009’s Nowhere Boy.
