Hulu has finally dropped the official Self Reliance trailer for Jake Johnson‘s upcoming feature directorial debut. It will be available for streaming on January 12.
The video introduces Johnson’s character who gets selected to be a part of a dark web reality competition show, where several hunters will try to kill him when he’s all alone. It also teases Anna Kendrick and Andy Samberg‘s characters, with Samberg portraying a version of himself.

What to expect in Self Reliance?
Self Reliance is written and directed by Johnson, who is also playing the leading role of Tommy. Joining him is an all-star cast consisting of Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Natalie Morales (The Newsroom), GaTa (Dave), Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek), Mary Holland (Happiest Season), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future movies), Boban Marjanović (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum), and Wayne Brady (How I Met Your Mother).
“When a middle-aged man is invited into a limo by famous actor Andy Samberg, his dull life takes a thrilling turn,” reads the synopsis. “Johnson is offered a chance to win a million dollars in a dark web reality TV show, where assassins from all over the world attempt to kill him for 30 days. The catch? He can’t be killed if he’s not entirely alone, leading him to recruit an unlikely team to help him survive.”
The film is produced by Johnson, Ali Bell, and Joe Hardesty, with Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone set as executive producers. It hails from Lonely Island and Walcott Productions.
