Paramount+ has released the first trailer for Finestkind, a new crime thriller starring Jenna Ortega, Tommy Lee Jones, and Ben Foster.
Directed and written by Brian Helgeland, Finestkind begins streaming on Paramount+ in December 2023. The trailer introduces two brothers, played by Foster and Toby Wallace, who need to come up with $100,000 in order to keep the boat belonging to their father, played by Jones. The two brothers turn to a young woman, played by Ortega, who then gets them involved in a drug smuggling scheme.

What is Brian Helgeland’s Finestkind about?
“Finestkind tells the story of two brothers (Ben Foster & Toby Wallace), raised in different worlds, who are reunited as adults over a fateful summer,” the official synopsis reads. “Set against the backdrop of commercial fishing, the story takes on primal stakes when desperate circumstances force the brothers to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime gang. Along the way, a young woman (Jenna Ortega) finds herself caught perilously in the middle. Sacrifices must be made and bonds between brothers, friends, lovers, and a father (Tommy Lee Jones) and his son are put to the ultimate test.”
Along with the aforementioned cast, Finestkind stars Tim Daly, Clayne Crawford, Aaron Stanford, Scotty Tovar, and Lolita Davidovich. Gary Foster, Russ Krasnoff, Taylor Sheridan, and David C. Glasser serve as producers.
Helgeland is known for directing 2001’s A Knight’s Tale, 2013’s 42, and 2015’s Legend. He is also a credited writer on 1988’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master 1997’s L.A. Confidential (which won him and Curtis Hanson an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay), 2003’s Mystic River, 2004’s Man on Fire, 2010’s Robin Hood, and more.
Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023, Finestkind hits Paramount+ on December 15, 2023.
