A new clip from Peacock’s If You Were the Last sees Anthony Mackie and Zoë Chao stranded in space.
If You Were the Last is a new sci-fi romantic comedy directed by Kristian Mercado. Releasing on Peacock later this month, a new clip from the film sees Mackie and Chao’s characters playing chess and discussing the Matt Damon-led movie, The Martian, while they’re stranded out among the cosmos. The footage ends with them wondering if there’s any chance of them being rescued or if they’ll be lost in space forever.

What is If You Were the Last about?
“Adam and Jane are three years into a NASA mission that has gone very wrong: Their ship is broken and drifting between Jupiter and Saturn,” the official synopsis reads. “Finding ways to pass the time as they become certain that no one is coming to save them, they argue over what to do. One day, Adam poses that maybe they should sleep together; Jane laughs the idea off, but it prompts a flirty debate about whether they’re better off spending their remaining days as friends or something more.”
Written by Angela Bourassa, If You Were the Last is produced by Andrew Miano, Dan Balgoyen, Britta Rowings, Dennis Masel, Gabrielle Nadig, Jessamine Burgum, Kara Durrett, Jon Levin, and Sean Woods. Harrison Huffman, Will Greenfield, Angela Bourassa, Chris Weitz, and Paul Weitz serve as executive producers.
Starring in the movie alongside Twisted Metal’s Mackie and The Afterparty’s Chao are Natalie Morales and Geoff Stults. If You Were the Last marks Mercado’s feature film directorial debut, though he’s helmed a number of television specials, short films, and music videos in the past.
If You Were the Last releases on Peacock on October 20, 2023.
