The official Our Father, The Devil trailer for the acclaimed psychological thriller has been released, which will arrive in select U.S. theaters on August 25. The French-language movie won the Audience Award for Best Narrative at the Tribeca Film Festival, and is currently nominated for Best Picture at the Independent Spirit Awards.
The video features an immigrant whose life is disrupted by the arrival of an African priest at the retirement home she works in. Meeting the new priest triggers her traumatic past, which will force her to confront inner demons.

What is Our Father, The Devil about?
“The film follows Marie, the head chef at a retirement home in small-town France,” reads the synopsis. “Her day-to-day life spent caring for residents, hanging out with her co-worker and best friend Nadia, and teasing a potential new romance is disrupted by the arrival of Father Patrick, an African priest whom she recognizes from a terrifying episode in her homeland. As he further endears himself to the residents and staff, Marie is forced to decide how best to deal with this reminder of her troubled past.”
The film is written and directed by Ellie Foumbi in her feature directorial debut; she is the writer and producer of several films. It stars Babetida Sadjo, Souleymane Sy Savane, Jennifer Tchiakpe, Franck Saurel, Martine Amisse, Maëlle Genet, Hiba el Aflahi, Valentin Fruitier, Maxence David, and Patrice Tepasso. It hails from Cinedigm and Fandor.
