ComingSoon is excited to debut The Girl in the Backseat trailer for the upcoming human trafficking thriller that is inspired by true events. As part of Dances With Films, the movie will have its world premiere on July 1 at 5 p.m. PT at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres.
“Inspired by true events, The Girl in the Backseat follows Sofia, a young immigrant, who is catfished and kidnapped in Los Angeles. She is then taken by force on a road trip across the state by her captor, Ryan, who is pressured to get her to their destination on time: a meeting with ‘Mom,’ the powerful and dangerous woman who runs a brutal human trafficking ring,” says the synopsis for The Girl in the Backseat. “Sofia does what she can to get into Ryan’s head to find a way to escape. Meanwhile, she meets other victims while being prepped for prostitution, including a young and compliant Bella, who has all her hopes riding on her belief she’ll soon see her child. Sofia now has Bella to worry about as her mind races to figure out an escape from this nightmare before it’s too late for both of them.”
