Hulu has released the official Flamin’ Hot trailer for Searchlight Pictures’ upcoming biographical comedy-drama. It centers around the Frito Lay janitor who becomes the mastermind behind the creation of the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The film is scheduled to make its debut on June 9, exclusively on Hulu and Disney+.
The video highlights the humble beginnings of Richard Montañez, a Mexican-American family man who’s determined to change his life. Inspired by his heritage, he unexpectedly comes up with one of the most popular snacks in the world.

Flamin’ Hot is directed by Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria from a screenplay written by Lewis Colick and Linda Yvette Chávez. The film stars Jesse Garcia, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, Emilio Rivera, Tony Shalhoub, Matt Walsh, Pepe Serna, Bobby Soto, Jimmy Gonzales, Brice Gonzalez, Vanessa Martinez, Fabian Alomar, Mario Ponce, and Hunter Jones.
“It is the inspiring true story of Richard Montañez (Jesse Garcia) who as a Frito Lay janitor disrupted the food industry by channeling his Mexican American heritage to turn Flamin’ Hot Cheetos from a snack into an iconic global pop culture phenomenon,” reads the synopsis.
The film is produced by DeVon Franklin, with David Kern and Samuel Rodriguez set as executive producers. Before directing Flamin’ Hot, Longoria previously directed episodes of shows like Jane the Virgin, The Mick, black-ish, Why Women Kill, and Gordita Chronicles.
