Showing Up Trailer: Michelle Williams Leads A24 Dramedy From Kelly Reichardt

A24 has released the official Showing Up trailer for acclaimed filmmaker Kelly Reichardt’s next collaboration with Oscar nominee Michelle Williams. The video features Williams as an artist who’s preparing for a big exhibition. It had its world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and is expected to arrive in theaters in Spring 2023.

Showing Up is directed by Kelly Reichardt from a screenplay she co-wrote with Jon Raymond. The film stars Michelle Williams, Hong Chau, Maryann Plunkett, John Magaro, André Benjamin, James Le Gros, and Judd Hirsch.

“The film is a particularized portrait of a sculptor’s daily work and frustrations in an artists’ enclave in Portland,” reads the synopsis (via New York Film Festival). “Lizzy (Williams) struggles to put the finishing touches on her latest pieces for a gallery show, all the while juggling admin work at the local art school; dealing with the neglect of her well-meaning landlord (a funny and nuanced Hong Chau), who also happens to be a rising-star conceptual artist; and tending to the emotional well being of her increasingly fragmented family.”

The film is produced by Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani, and Vincent Savino. This marks Reichardt’s fourth film with Williams after working together on the dramas Wendy and Lucy, Meek’s Cutoff, and Certain Women.
