Along with a new trailer, Content Media announced today that it has acquired international sales rights to the unusual romantic comedy Comet, starring Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera, “Shameless) and Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard, Tusk), with IFC Films having finalized their deal to distribute the film domestically in December. You can check out the trailer below!
Comet follows the beautiful Kimberly (Emma Rossum) and the nerdy Dell (Justin Long), from their first meeting in a cemetery all the way through their unlikely 6-year relationship, leaping back and forth in time through five pivotal moments: their meeting; a fight at a friend’s wedding in Paris; a break up conversation after Dell has moved to New York; a reconnection on a train ride in California; and when Dell pops in on Kimberly unexpectedly in her home in the Hollywood Hills.
“With his feature film debut, Sam Esmail has created a romance for the ages,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. “Emmy and Justin shine in this chronicle of a star-crossed relationship.”
Directed and written by Sam Esmail, Comet was produced by Chad Hamilton (Breakup at a Wedding) for Anonymous Content and Lee Clay (No Good Deed). The film is executive produced by Colin Bates, Peter M. DeGeorge, Steve Golin, Justin Long, Emmy Rossum and William A. Stetson.
