Focus Features has dropped an official trailer for Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul., an upcoming mockumentary satire comedy starring Reginal Hall and Sterling K. Brown. The film is scheduled to make its debut on September 2 in theaters and on Peacock.
The video features Pastor Lee-Curtis and Trinitie Childs as they try everything they can, including filming a documentary, to rebuild their church’s reputation following a recent scandal involving Lee-Curtis.

Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. serves as the feature-length directorial debut of Adamma Ebo. Joining Hall and Brown are Nicole Beharie, Conphidance, Austin Crute, and Devere Rogers.
“The film is a satirical comedy starring Regina Hall as Trinitie Childs – the proud first lady of a Southern Baptist megachurch, who together with her husband Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Sterling K. Brown), once served a congregation in the tens of thousands,” reads the synopsis. “But after a scandal forces their church to temporarily close, Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must reopen their church and rebuild their congregation to make the biggest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen.”

The film is produced by Hall, Brown, Adamma Ebo Ebo, Adanne Ebo, Daniel Kaluuya, Rowan Riley, Amandla Crichlow, Kara Durrett, Jessamine Burgum, and Matthew Cooper. The film had its world premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.
